Art Activity - Sesame Street Characters

E-mail Print

Nothing compares to kids' enthusiasm for the famous and furry muppets; they are the most-loved characters ever to appear on television. Spend some time with your young kids and share the joy of making Sesame Street muppet characters from cartoon paper using the following directions.

Prepare:

Before you start, you should set aside Black yarn, Glue and 2 Wiggle eyes per character (you can replace the wiggle eye with black and white circles). Use each character photo for placement before you glue the ears, eyes, nose and hair.

Supplies you will need:

For Cookie Monster:Cookie-Monster
1 large circle
1 medium circle
Blue and black paint
Paint or color the large circle blue. Draw black dots on the smaller circle to make it look like a chocolate chip cookie.
Glue the wiggle eyes on the top of the circle, the mouth under the eyes and the cookie under the mouth.

For Elmo:Elmo
1 large circle

1 small circle

Red and orange paint or markers

Paint the large circle red and the small circle orange. When the paint dries, glue on the eyes, and nose and then draw on the mouth.

For Bert:Bert
1 large oval
3 small circles
Yellow, orange and black paint or markers
Paint the large oval and two small circles yellow, and paint one circle orange for a nose.
When the paint dries, glue on the eyes, nose and ears.
Cut the black yarn into small sections and glue vertically to the top of the oval for hair. Glue on the wiggle eyes and add a small section of yarn above to make one long eyebrow.
Draw a mouth under the nose with a black marker.

For Ernie:Ernie

1 large ovals
3 small circles
Yellow and orange paint or markers
Paint the large oval and two circles orange and paint the other circle red.
When dry, glue the nose, eyes and ears to the circle.
Cut yarn into small sections and glue vertically to the top of the head.

One of the best ways to use these is to glue the artwork onto a pin or attach a magnet to the back of the faces. Enjoy!
